!: Creative Rituals to Spark Your Imagination and Inspire Your Soul

Creativity is a mysterious force that visits us with great ideas, new ways of seeing the world and the daring to do things differently. Revitalizing your creative talents will help you in the most unexpected and wonderful ways. Would you like a renewed commitment to self-care? What would a new appreciation for natural beauty feel like to you? By making time each day to mindfully embrace this force, you can expect increased creativity and an expanded sense of pleasure and gratefulness for the creative process.

A Ritual is a series of repeated acts. By incorporating Creative Ritual in your life, you will increase your innovations and creativity in ways that will surprise and delight you. To create your ritual try one or all of the ideas offered below, then repeat your actions. Expect that your creativity will grow. The following list highlights simple yet powerful actions you can take to spark your creative energy from the inside out.

o Take a Walk- Go outside to a place that you feel some attraction toward. Try to find space where you can be somewhat alone and quiet. Allow your natural attraction to come to your consciousness so that you can explore it more fully. Let your all your creative senses come to life. For starters-see, listen, touch, smell, taste, and imagine.

o Create Sacred Space- Find a space in your home to place inspiring, motivating and spiritually significant objects. Remind yourself that creativity flows like water and wind; it is steadfast like the earth and powerful like fire. You can utilize photographs of people who support and encourage you, spiritual icons, collect objects from your nature walks, or anything that awes and inspires you. Spend at least 10 minutes a day honoring your sacred space.

o Reflection- Reflection can be a minute of appreciating someone or something, or it can be a day of music, meditation and humming. Find ways to incorporate reflection into your daily routine, noting how your experiences help you grow as a creative person. This is great for surveying what inspires you-what blocks you-what attracts you- and what doesn't.

o Break up Your Routine- When you are able, find some time to sneak away from your usual routine and enjoy some creative pleasure. Maybe you will want to wander through a museum, visit a craft store, go window shopping, or visit that special place that you have driven by hundreds of times, but never took the time to stop. There are no rules to creative getaways; it is whatever touches you in that moment.

o Start a Daily Journal- Use journaling to jot down the meandering thoughts of your mind; write, draw, doodle, or just scribble with crayons. Keep it by your bedside to record any dreams when you wake up. Somewhere in between your subconscious and unconscious are thoughts, mental notes, and great creative ideas; use your journal as a place to record and store these ideas. Think of it as Feng Shui for the mind, a way of keeping the creative juices flowing.

o Release Your Inner Child- Children have the amazing ability to be open to the possibilities of just about anything. Give yourself playtime to see the world through the eyes of a child. Sometimes it can be simply wishing on a dandelion, swinging in the park, chewing bubble gum, or finger painting. Give yourself permission to laugh and be silly.

o Chart Your Course- It is one thing to dream of creative things and it's another thing to make them happen. Think about all the wonderful ideas you have and pick one to act upon. Make a commitment to do at least one daily action to support this idea. If you still feel challenged by this idea, consider scheduling a session with a Life Coach to create your action plan and build some amount of structure into your creative charting.
